Oktoberfest
Every year Maryland Gardens has an Oktoberfest. They decorate with streamers around the trees with fall colors and have some hanging from the trees for falling leaves. It really looks very festive. The have tables setup outside so the residents and their families can enjoy the dinner al fresco. They always have some sort of musical entertainment and this year they had a steel drummer. Mom always enjoys herself at these types of functions. She taps her toes or claps her hands in time with the music. Unfortunately she still is not walking and isn't feeding herself very well. She needs assistance at first with the feeding, but tends to take over towards the end of the meal. Trish and I enjoyed ourselves. It was nice to see some of the residents with their families.
To end our visit on a happy note, as much as Alzheimer's robs your loved one of the their mind, it amazes me how much they still enjoy music, people watching and celebrations. It was a lovely evening. Happy Fall!
